Manhattan Group Publishers is pleased to offer the following service. Beginning with a simple line drawing, sketch, or photo, the artist creates a richly textured original artwork which incorporates elements from the background, occupation, or interests of the subject.
In the Mask Series, the male face is rendered in a variety of textures expressive of different sculptural media: clay, wood, ice, tile even light itself. The final realization in this series became the album cover for the European techno group Electronic Image.
The Male Image Series is an uninhibited celebration of the male form in a variety of homoerotic contexts from the mild to the more extreme. The first three compositions are the result of a collaboration between artist Brian Skinner and Chicago photographer Frank C. Failing, three distinct interpretations of a young male model. At the other end of the spectrum are the two Dream Blankets, Druid's Rapture and The Pool of Narcissus, and a simple sketch of two clasped male hands.

The following images show a few steps in process of creating a digital portrait. Beginning with the black-and-white head shot of New York City actor and musician Anthony Chase Fountain, the photo is cropped, colorized, and texturized, the final version rendered as a mosaic image.
Anthony's portrait was later incorporated in a full-body sketch that was then turned into the quadtone (four colors of ink) image that provided the inspiration for Dream Blanket No. 24 The Pool of Narcissus.
